Distance Education/E-Learning: ICS Support

The mission of the IFAS Information and Communication Services (ICS) office is to produce computing and communication resources, programs, and services in support of UF/IFAS teaching, research, and extension.

IFAS Faculty Support

Our instructional designers work with faculty to develop or adapt courses for delivery in various formats, including Web-based, DVD, and videoconferencing. We also advise instructors on the most effective ways to organize and present their content.

General Public

IFAS extension also offers programs and materials for the general public in such areas as insects, gardening, and understanding the natural world. ICS helps extension faculty in the development of these programs and materials, and in marketing them to the public.

Your local county extension office also offers information on gardening, nutrition, budgeting and much more. See the extension calendar for upcoming events in county offices throughout Florida.

Professionals

Many training programs, certification opportunities, and continuing education units (CEUs) are available through extension, often in conjunction with FDACS and the USDA. ICS is a valuable resource in producing educational modules for all these activities and in making them available to the appropriate audience.

Student Distance Education

Distance education courses are offered to students by CALS through a variety of formats including the internet, interactive DVD and CD, and videoconferencing. ICS works with CALS faculty and administrators to develop, present or record, and provide technical support for these courses.

IFAS IT Support

Help Desk, policies, e-mail assistance, videoconferencing, web hosting, and more.
